LG wanted to incorporate a force-sensitive side key for controlling their mobile phone camera. PPS used 3DTI to develop a silicone membrane based input pad that instantly reconfigures itself to different modes of operation. This new technology determines contact location as well as force level over device surface using 12 thin capacitive sensor elements around the border.
JXJ needed a solution for measuring pulse and blood pressure in a health watch. They partnered with PPS to develop a watch embedded with PPS pulse sensors. PPS sensors do not require chest straps, enabling a watch that more-closely resembles stylish accessories rather than healthcare monitoring devices.
Customer looked for a solution to measure eyelid pressures on ocular surface. Digitacts sensors from PPS were inserted between the soft contact lens on the cornea and the inner surface of the eyelid. A study was published a using PPS sensor data showing that eyelid pressure decreased significantly with age.
Lenox Hill needed to measure pressures of knee joints when flexed. PPS delivered custom 24-elements Digitacts sensors for both medial and lateral sides. These sensors were not only flexible for multi-curved surface of knee joints but could also withstand the relatively high pressures of this application.
A customer wanted to capture pressure mapping information of neonatal & pediatric tracheostomy tube balloons against the trachea. PPS developed custom TactArray and Digitacts solutions mounted inside rigid cylinders of different sizes mimicking the customer tracheostomy tubes as well as their competition.
